For thousands of years, people from all corners of the globe have actively pursued the path of higher understanding. In an effort to explain our existence and ultimate purpose in the Universe, as well as to gain insight into the maps that Fate has drawn for us, humans have developed multiple techniques that allow a glimpse into various points of The Beyond. This practice is called divination. By using divination, you can look more deeply into the past, the present, the future, or alternate spiritual planes. Divination is a tool that has been used since ancient times, dating back to civilizations such as the Greeks, Egyptians, Mayans, and many others-- and it is still in practice today.

The History of Tarot Cards
A form of cartomancy, Tarot Cards have been used for purposes of divination for centuries. Also referred to as Taromancy, the practice of using Tarot Cards as divination tools stems from the 1700s. A typical Tarot deck contains 78 cards that are comprised of twenty two Major Arcana cards and four suits (Pentacles, Cups, Wands, and Swords) that contain fourteen cards each. Tarot cards are used in readings that can allow you to look into your future, provide resolution or deeper insight to your life in the present, or to commune with the deceased.

The History of Crystal Balls and Gem Gazing
Crystal balls are centuries old divination objects. It is believed that the crystal ball, made of quartz or glass, induces a psychic trance that allows the viewer to see spiritual images within the sphere. Crystal balls and gems can be used for fortune telling, reading past events, or contacting spirits. The use of scrying pools is very similar to that of crystal balls, with the exception being a bowl or saucer of water acting as the divination device instead of a gem or sphere.

The History of Astrology
The practice of astrology has been around for over 6000 years. It is a divination system that is closely connected to the science of astronomy, as its basis is founded upon reading the movement and placement of planets, stars, and other heavenly bodies. Astrology is a technique used to map your intended destiny, as well as how you are seen in the eyes of the Universe. The three most well known and commonly used astrological methods are Vedic (Hindu), Western, and Chinese.

The History of Runes
The earliest users of Runic divination are believed to be Germanic tribes and Roman societies. Divination Runes (small stones, gems, or clay disks that are inscribed with ancient magical symbols) were and are still used as a method of fortune telling.

The History of Tea Leaf Reading
Tea leaf reading, or Tasseomancy, is a method of divination through inspecting and interpreting the placement and patterns found in tea leaves that remain at the botton of an emptied cup of tea. Reading tea leaves was a divination method that is thought to have been developed in Asia and the Middle East before becoming widely practiced in Great Britian. Tasseomancy can also be used for coffee grounds.
